GOODBYE DALI Part 6: Another Epic Birthday Party (#89B): Despite my demotion from Executive Director to Director of Development of the Dali Museum, I wanted to have a great 40th Birthday. The girl I was dating was a Marketing Rep for the Don CeSar Hotel and she pulled out the stops.
The party was themed as a Dali Celebration, instead of a Birthday Party. There was a piano player and 6 actors and singers from Dream Quest Productions. They provided Dali banners and a 3 panel cut out of Dali’s “Great Masturbador” rock for guests to paint. They interacted with guests all night as colors, walking up and asking what their color brought to mind. An amply endowed brunette in a low cut red dress approached me and asked, “Hello, I’m Red. What do I remind you of?” I couldn’t help myself and replied, “A beautiful woman with great cleavage!” Yellow sang Happy Birthday to me in a very good imitation of Marilyn Monroe.
Quintessential Cuisine provided the food, with 6 food and desert station around the patio. We had pasta, steak, chicken cordon bleu, grilled portobello mushroom, grilled vegetables, and great desserts. Convention Support Services did the set up and to enter the driveway, you had to walk across a small bridge with a fountain on each side.
It was a tremendous evening, only tarnished by Marshall Rousseau’s invitation getting lost. He must have complained to Ren that he wasn’t invited. The next time Ren saw me he chewed me out, “If you invite one Trustee you have to invite them all. Marshall Rousseau’s feelings were hurt that you didn’t invite him.” Sorry Marshall, I thought you were invited. At least you ended up with my job in 6 months.
